The Clock and Bull BrauHaus (& ChowHouse!) will be on the site of the original Black Forest Hill Cuckoo Clock Shop in Cabarlah Queensland Australia. Honouring the site's history, we'll continue to stock the finest of German clock making craftmanship, along with a unique homewares and gift wares offering.
Bringing a brewery and restaurant to life in their home region after some +20 years of living internationally in places such as the USA, South Africa and Singapore, our owners are finally realising a long held dream!
"To be able to bring this dream to life and share it with both our wonderful community and the many tourists visiting our region, in such an iconic building, is truly special".
We're about establishing an iconic venue where people can eat, drink, live, love, and laugh....nothing more than that!
The Clock and Bull Brewhouse will be iconic....guaranteed we won't simply be "just another brewery".
We look forward to welcoming you some time in late 2022!
Like all good things, they take time and can be complex!
We've commenced the approval process with Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) and relevant Queensland Government authorities. Transitioning from it's current use as a retail outlet to the proposed Brewery & Restaurant facility will require us to satisfy a number of requirements, including Material Change of Use (MCU) approval from TRC. We have engaged the services of a Town Planning partner, and look forward to diligently working through the required process with TRC and others.
24 July 2022 Update:
Our completed Development Application (DA) was submitted to TRC earlier this month (July 22). We look forward to working through the process with TRC's Planning & Development Team.
With the facility fronting the New England Highway, & this being a Qld Gov. controlled road, we're also required to satisfy a number of Qld Gov. requirements. We're pleased to advise this process is also now in play.
The liquor licensing process is also now in full swing. We've engaged an industry expert to assist with this process and completion of all Office of Liquor & Gaming Regulation (OLGR) requirements.
We're also please to advise our previous challenges associated with finding a suitable on-site wastewater treatment system have now been addressed. We'll be using a system manufactured in the USA, with all wastewater disposed in a subsurface manner, ie no surface sprinklers and no odours!!
Thanks for your continued interest in our project and we look forward to keeping you updated.
31 October 2022 Update:
It feels like we’re almost there!! What a process it’s been, but as I keep reminding myself, “if it was easy everyone would do it”.
I’m confident (& hopeful) we’ll receive the much-anticipated green light some time in Nov 22, at which time it will be full steam ahead with procurement and fit out. Unfortunately the global supply chain pressures aren’t doing us any favours, but that‘s something we’re all just having to live with.
At this stage, we’re hopeful of ‘first pour’ by March 23. We’ve been thinking about the names of our brews, and each will be named with a connection to the past. You’ll see reference to….1883 Line, Five Mile, Borneo and more. Drop us a line at info@clockandbull.com.au if you know the relevance of these names…..or better still if you have a suggestion of your own!
Finally, a huge thank you to all those who’ve dropped in over the past months; your support and encouragement for what we’re about to create has been overwhelming! We certainly look forward to bringing the concept to life and creating a truly special community space……where just walk’n through the front door puts a big smile on your face!
